By Anna Delin

I could've sworn I heard you

amidst the chatter and noise

A hushed voice inside the crowd

and ina moment, when I suppose

We all had to catch our breath

in our pause your whisper sounded

and all ears turned to you

as they had before

And again we listened to you jokes

your stories, comments and then your breath

as you lay there surrounded

by family and friends popping in

The silence settled in an

we waited,

just in case you would speak again

but we were content

to listen to your breaths,

and slowly chatter returned

slightly quieter this time as we waited

for one more whispered goodbye.
